The Springs JOAD Group Youth Instruction Program

JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development) is a national youth program sponsored by USA Archery. The club is open to anyone between the ages of 8 and 20. The program provides archery instruction for recreational and competitive shooters alike. Recurve and compound shooters are welcome. We meet once a week on Saturdays from 8:00 am to 10:00 am at the host range, Bill Pellegrino’s Archery Hut. At each session, our coaches will work with the archers to meet their individual goals, focusing on developing mental game and correct form. Shooters will be able to earn ‘star pins’ and certificates that signify certain levels of achievement.

Although JOAD is a very disciplined program, we always include fun activities so the shooters can enjoy forming their new skills. We have monthly breakfast potlucks and partake in archery games, team activities, and non-competitive “fun shoots.” Since there are many JOAD clubs across Colorado, once a month a Colorado JOAD club will hold a tournament open to all clubs where archers will be able to compete for awards. Tournaments are a wonderful way to teach children about sportsmanship and mental management.  Springs JOAD strives to promote the education of archery while increasing individual confidence and team building skills.
